- - Likes: hunters, jumpers, equitation, moody mares, hard coaches, catch riding, white chocolate, social sciences, winning, her mom, the barn, vanilla ice cream, vanilla cake, her blackberry.
- - Dislikes: riding the same horse constantly, her real parents, chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake, making mistakes, people who don’t take riding seriously, coaches that don’t push you, horse snobs, horse show moms, drugs, partying.
- - Goals: to take over Wynfield and continue it’s fabulous reputation, compete at the international level on a regular basis- and win obviously, take a horse that she’s trained to the Grand Prix ring.
- - Fears: that she will teach kids to be as competitive as she is(the reason she doesn’t coach unless asked), crashing a fence and not being able to ride anymore, becoming another rider that goes downhill after her junior years, that she won’t be able to love somebody and be dedicated to riding.
- - Habits: to pick herself apart, rolling her back over bigger fences, riding with stirrups that are too short, biting her nails, biting her lip, rolling her eyes.
- - Personality: outgoing, sarcastic, overly competitive, honest, smart, dedicated, determined, hard working, natural leader, blunt, overly focused, blames herself for things that are not her fault, pressures herself, can be a hypocrite, too serious, workaholic.

- - Mother: Heather Hamilton-Owens, 40, High School teachers/ Runs Wynfield
- - Siblings: Hanna Owens, 17, student

- - History:Jessica was born in Caledon, Ontario- home of the show grounds that are known as ‘Palgrave’. However, Jessica didn’t learn about the coveted horse shows they hosted until she was nine- shortly after all hell broke loose. Jess lived with her mother and father, along with her brother Jamie. Her parents spent little time at home and usually left little Jessica to take care of her twin- and she took pride in her responsibility over her brother. He became the reason she lived, and she learned to hold everything together at a very young age. She was a strong girl who never let anybody know what was going on, she even went to school after she learned about her brother, her best friends, death. She didn’t cry, she didn’t even blink- she never allowed herself to show weakness. It wasn’t until the teachers at her small elementary school saw the news- Jessica’s parents had been driving under the influence with nine- year old Jamie Owens in the back. They had drove off the road, flipped the car and eventually rolled into a tree that nearly split the car in half. Jamie had died instantly, Jessica’s parents shortly after in the hospital.
The great thing about small towns? It didn’t take long for somebody to take Jessica under their wing- away from her drunken, idiotic relatives. Her elementary school teacher had been telling Heather Hamilton- Owens about the crash and Jessica’s ‘situation’ when Heather spoke up- she wanted to adopt the little girl. Jessica wasn’t sure what to think of this new family- a high school English teacher as a mom, a business man for a father and a little sister by the name of Hanna. Jessica was nervous about the move but Heather was drawn to Jessica for whatever reason, and she soon drew out Jessica’s number one passion- horses. Jessica had attended summer horse camps since she was five as her mother’s way to ‘get rid of them for awhile’. Heather jumped on this opportunity, knowing absolutely nothing about horses, and took Jessica down to a well- known barn in the Caledon area.
Jessica’s parents leased her a small pony for her first two years that she showed in the small pony ring on the ‘A’ circuit. She didn’t do amazing but people started noticing something- this girl could ride. Jessica moved up in the pony ring and started showing lower level equitation which became evident was ‘her thing’. Jessica came to a problem at sixteen though- her parent’s supported her emotionally, but they refused to fork out any more money towards her riding career until she proved she could make it on her own. She hated it at first, but it proved to be the best thing that ever happened to her.
Jessica kept riding horses at Val’s but it was to the point she felt she’d never show again- she’d never get to win the CET medal, show in the Grand Prix ring- it was all down the drain. Jessica refused to give up though, she needed to show- in fact her life revolved around riding. She started calling up barns and asking if anybody needed a catch rider, anything. That is when she got the opportunity of a lifetime- Janet Dwyer, a judge as well as a coach, had a horse that she couldn’t seem to get around in the children’s hunter ring and her clients were determined to keep it. Jessica worked, and worked and worked with this mare- two hour rides some nights, numerous falls and a few trips to the emergency room. Jessica figured her out though, and she went on to win champion at a couple of ‘A’ shows in the children’s hunter and pin top three in every medal she entered. Word got out that Jessica was catch riding and she started getting opportunities to show for big barns- showing in all three rings. Jessica went on to compete in numerous CET Medal classes, 1.30M jumpers and the high hunters. Jessica rarely finished a season on a horse due to the fact they were either sold or ’fixed’ so their owners could ride them. Jessica did qualify for the CET Medal last fall where she rode at the prestigious Royal Winter Fair against the top riders in Canada. Jessica had one extra challenge though- she was riding a horse she’d only rode twice before. She crossed her fingers and entered the ring, crowd cheering, as she guided her mount- whose name she didn’t even know- around the course. Jessica put down a flawless round- except a slight long spot in a line that followed a trot fence. She still managed to finish a very respectable 5th, but the slight long spot kept her from the next round. When Jessica turned nineteen she was torn between showing year round or attending university to get a degree in psychology- but Heather gave her an option she couldn’t turn down. Heather and Mike had realized that Jessica loved the sport, and they felt she’d more than earned her spot at the top- so they decided to become a partner in Wynfield Equestrian. Jessica worked for the farm for four years well she got her undergrad, still riding but once again all sale horses. She was champion in 1.30M and 1.40M classes, and even rode a few horses at the Royal Winter Fair to ensure that they would ribbon well. But Jessica is done school now, and she’s ready to rock the horse world.
